A win-win situation [Noun] (a situation in which the result is good for everyone who is involved in).
The idea in a win-win situation is that nobody loses.
UK and China collaboration is a win-win situation for both countries. Embark on [Verb] (start to do something new, important or difficult). He is about to embark on a new career as a doctor.
She was now ready to embark on her journey of adventure.
Family ties [Noun] (family links or connections).
She decided not to take a new job in London because her family ties in Japan were too strong.
Obviously, she thought family ties were more important than education.
Working mothers [Noun] (women who work outside the home and also have to take care of their children at home).
There can be both negative and positive effects of working mothers on their children.
Working mothers admit starting a family set back their careers.
Ties of kinship [Noun] (the fact of being related to the link or the relationship between members of the same family).
This was not just a friendly greeting but a formal recognition of the ties of kinship between
them.
In the modern world, people are always moving to a new place to live, and this has weakened traditional ties of kinship.
Show off [Verb] (to intentionally act in a way to attract other people’s attention or admiration).
She likes to wear short skirts to show off her legs. She did a quick twirl to show off her dress.
Mind [Verb] (to care about, feel annoyed, or unhappy about something).
I don't mind if she is sociable or not.
Don't mind Lucy; she likes to sing in the mornings!
Appreciate [Verb] (to recognise or understand that something is valuable or important).
You talk to me, and try to cheer me up, and I really appreciate it. I would appreciate it if you would deal with this matter urgently.
Contact [Verb] (to communicate with someone either by talking or writing).
Tom wasn't able to contact Mary by phone.
We will contact you as soon as we know.
Bear [Verb] (to accept, endure or tolerate something unpleasant).
She can't bear the taste of bananas. He could hardly bear the pain.
I can't bear to be doing nothing!
