Specifications for Vision Testing Equipment
Vision screening equipment must provide both binocular and monocular testing.
Vision screener shall provide screening for acuity from 20/20 vision to a minimum of 20/40 vision. Screen equipment shall be able to accommodate the test subject wearing corrective lenses.
Vision screener shall have the capability to change testing slides. The selected screener shall have the capability to test for contrast sensitivity; this may be achieved through additional slides to be purchased at a later date.
Vision screener shall have the capability to test peripheral vision on the horizontal plan. At a minimum the screening equipment shall test for 120 degrees combined and 160 combined and 70 degrees in each eye temporal and nasal. School Bus drivers are required to 160 combined field of vision.
Equipment base shall not be larger than 18 inches by 10 inches. However, this would not include any remote control device.
Testing slides shall be manufactured on premium photographic film and be sealed within material that will protect the film and be resistant to scratching. Screening slides for acuity shall be included.
The equipment shall come with a warrantee.
