The Baltic amber or succinite is occurred in wide area within Central Europe. The largest industrial 
quarry is located in Kaliningrad region, Russia. The mineral is concentrated here in marine deposits of “blue-
earth” layer of Prussian Formation, which dated by the Priabonian age (the latest Eocene). This layer was 
deposited during marine transgression and resin was redeposited from soil of “amber forest”. After that long 
chemical evolution transformed the resin into succinate. The Baltic amber often contains inclusions of plant 
and animals. They were embedded in resin 40 Ma and conserved with perfect morphological features. The 
study of plants from amber allows us to reconstruct whole community, which was humid mixed forest with 
diverse bryophytes, ferns, conifers and angiosperms.

Gothan был установлен для ископаемых древесин хвойных, которые 
впервые были описаны как 
Pinites latiporosus
Cramer и 
P. pauciporosus
Cramer из юрских отложений 
о-ва Западный Шпицберген (Philippe et al., 2013). Находки ископаемых древесин 
Xenoxylon
многочисленны и указываются из мезозойских отложений по всему Северному полушарию. Хвойные 
с древесиной типа 
Xenoxylon
были широко распространены, начиная с карния (поздний триас) по 
маастрихт (поздний мел) включительно (Philippe et al., 2013). К сожалению, несмотря на большое 
количество данных по 
Xenoxylon
, его систематическое положение среди хвойных до сих пор остается
