BigShoe11: Özil and Pogba are starting sponsorship-club for children operations
These two football stars are starting the `BigShoe11‘ with the motto „Our goal is to help children“ just in time to the European Championship 2016 in France.
The general concept: 11 professional players from different nations, that take part at the tournament, each overtake a sponsorship for 11 operations on children in Africa. Not only players but all fans are welcome to join.
The surgeries on the children, who suffer with serious burnings of their skin or a club foot, will be carried out during the EURO 2016 by an international medical team in Tanzania.
"We are so pleased that, next to Mesut Özil, who has been acting as a BigShoe ambassador for more than two years, we were also able to have the French national player Paul Pogba as another prominent ambassador for the campaign. Now we want our team to grow further, so we can pay for as many operations as possible“, says Dr. Igor Wetzel, the BigShoe-Founder.
„Fans will also have the opportunity to help with a little donation. Anybody, who wants to get involved can be part of the BigShoe family and do something good with the small amount of 11 Euro. Together with many football fans we are able to help more children in need.“, Dr. Wetzel continues.
BigShoe was founded before the World Championship 2006 in Germany. Since then BigShoe was able to pay the operations for 1200 children in need with the help of donations.
After the WC 2014 in Brazil, Mesut Özil donated for 23 lifesaving operations of Brazilian children. One year after that, he paid for another eleven surgeries. Now the organizers are happy to have French national player Paul Pogba as another prominent sponsor and Euro ambassador for the campaign. Paul Pogba and Mesut Özil will be donating for 11 surgeries each, to start the project.
Bigshoe:
The project started with the „Sommermärchen“ during the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany. The Togo national team was based in Wangen im Allgäu. When the citizens of Wangen heard about poor little Nourisson from Togo, who was born with a cleft and urgently required an operation, they began collecting money to help pay for her operation. The story of BigShoe began and progressed to the 2010 WC in Africa, Ukraine/Poland Euro 2012, World Cup 2014 in Brazil and now to the Euro 2016 in France. Thanks to a large number of generous donors, we have been able to operate on more than 1200 needy children. BigShoe won the World Cup Bambi (German) Television Prize, awarded by Hubert Burda Media (presented by Franz Beckenbauer at the Daimler Benz Museum in 2006).
