Listening Part 4
THE TASK

In Part 4 candidates listen to a longer text, which will be an interview.
u
Candidates have to answer six multiple-choice questions as they listen to 
the text, choosing the correct answer from a choice of three options.
u
The texts are from a range of contexts, and are largely informational.
HOW TO APPROACH THE TASK
u
First, candidates need to read and listen to the instructions, then use the 
pause to read the questions and think about the context. This may be 
information about places and events or people’s lives, interests
and experiences.
u
They need to focus on a detailed understanding of the meaning of the text. 
During the first listening, candidates should listen for gist and choose the 
best option for each question.
u
During the second listening, they need to check all their answers carefully, 
focusing on detailed understanding and stated attitudes or opinions.
ASSESSMENT
u
To arrive at the correct answer, candidates will need a detailed 
understanding of the meaning of the text.
