Authoritarian management methods
Unlike other management styles, the authoritarian style is aimed at punishing any employee misconduct rather than rewarding them for any achievement. Among the main methods of this management style are reprimands, orders, notes, deprivation of all kinds of bonuses and privileges.

The main psychological factor that affects the employees of the organization is fear - shame, punishment, fear of dismissal. Thus, it cannot be said that an authoritarian management style is characterized by a lack of motivation. There is motivation, but it is to increase the performance of employees with fear.


Since the authoritarian style of management comes in two forms (benevolent and exploitative), the management methods depend on which type of authoritarian style is followed in the organization. It is easy to assume that the benevolent form of authoritarian style implies a relaxation of management methods, as well as a significant reduction in the number of penalties.
Disadvantages of authoritarian governance
Of course, an authoritarian style is by no means the best management style for the smooth running of an organization. According to experts, this method can be used only in some cases when working with subordinates:
1. In emergencies, this is understood to be any emergencies and disruptions in the work of the company, requiring prompt action and prompt decision-making, as well as in limited time contexts.

2. Anarchist sentiments of the organization that require immediate restraint of workers by introducing a strict discipline that prevents the onset of various riots, strikes, etc.
