Reporter’s Interpretation

Unconditional love and vengeance are two disagreeing words that whatever we do in life, the latter is a 

dead end. The characters of the story also displayed a positive outlook in life despite of their own past. 

The father guarded the happiness of his daughter and considered that the sins of his archenemy must not be 

paid by Darnay. Lucie on the other hand, also accepts Darney’s origin and follows her happiness. Miss Prose 

is an ideal illustration of her unconditional for the Manette’s family. The star of the novel who believes that 

love is blind, accepts the happiness of Lucie towards Darnay and extend it by sacrificing his own life.

Vengeance on the other hand doesn’t give a good chance. Madame Defarge, as to be considered as villain of 

the story, is living a life of hostility which resulted to her death at the end of the novel.  

Always do the right thing even if the result doesn’t accord with the natural course of life.
