The education system in the United States does not differ by any complexity, but there are a number of peculiarities that all those planning to receive education in this country need to know.

For American children, schooling begins at the age of 5. the first year of study is named “Kindergarten”. The second year of school is considered the first grade of primary education. In general, the word “grade” is used in 2 meanings:

As a “score” that the student receives in classes or exams.

As a “school year” in primary and secondaryschools.

The primary school consists of five years of study.

After the end of the fifth grade secondary education begins. It lasts seven years (6-12classes). 9- 12 classes – High school.

After the 12th year of training graduates receive the diploma on graduation of high school – high school diploma. Obtaining this diploma for Americans is a mandatory condition for admission to colleges and universities. For foreigners to entroll in universities or colleges, they must have an equivalent high school diploma education.

After graduating from high school, teenagers go to Undergraduate School, Which provide basic education. This is either a 2-year education in colleges, after which graduates receive the Associate degree (very conditionally this level can be called a “professional diploma”), or Undergraduate School – 4 years of education in colleges and universities, which leads to the assignment of a bachelor’s degree. After receving the Associate degree, you can continue your studies to a bachelor’s degree.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree students have the opportunity to continue their education and receive a Master’s degree. Ususlly the master’s degree course lasts 2 years. This is a specialized training in any field. Most often it is in the area in which the Bachelor’s degree is obtained.
