Onion flies are dark gray in color and 6-7 mm in size. It infects garlic roots and onion heads.The
larva is pale white, up to 10 mm long, headless, has 2 shears on the front and 16 tumor teeth on
the end of the body.They cut and eat plants through these teeth.The onion fly lays its eggs in
balls between the axils of the garlicleaf and from these eggs the larvae emerge after 3-5 days, the
larvae feed for 1-2 weeks and then turn into a fungus at a depth of 3-5 cm in the soil. After 2–3
weeks, the flies fly away. Onion flies give offspring 3–5 times a season.
