Appendix B: Moderna covid-19 Vaccine

If a full 0.5mL dose cannot 

be withdrawn from the vial, discard the vial and contents. Never "pool" or combine excess vaccine from 

multiple vials to obtain a dose. 

Shipping 

Moderna COVID-19 vaccine ships frozen to the ordering facility in a range between -40 to -15 degrees 

Celsius (-40 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit). A signature will be required when the vaccine is delivered. Upon 

receiving the vaccine, unpack the shipment following the manufacturer’s instructions, confirm the 

quantity is correct, there are no damaged vials, and it has remained within the proper temperature 

range. Vaccine is in preservative-free multi-dose vials (MDVs): 11-dose vials (range 10-11 doses) and 15-

dose vials (range 13-15 doses). Each carton contains 10 MDVs. With the 15-dose vials, the minimum 

order is 140 doses. Ancillary supply kits will be shipped to coincide with the size of the order placed and 

are configured to extract a maximum of 14 doses per vial (plus 5% for damage or wastage).
