Pastor’s Thoughts
As we celebrate today Divine Mercy Sunday, instituted by St. John Paul II, we are reminded that at the center of our faith stands God’s infinite mercy. “The Gospel is the revelation in Jesus Christ of God’s mercy to sinners” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, no. 1846). The very name of our Savior, Jesus, means “God saves.” We need, however, to cooperate with the Lord’s saving grace. In the words of St. Augustine, “God created us without us; but he did not will to save us without us” (Sermo 169, CCC, no. 1847). To receive divine mercy, we must recognize our sins and ask for forgiveness (CCC, no. 1847). On this Mercy Sunday, we are assured that if we do so, our sins will be wiped away.

12th Annual Marian Quarterback Club Football Alumni Golf Tournament
The Marian QBC will be sponsoring it's 12th annual golf outing on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at the beautiful Mt. Valley Golf Course. The event is a 4-man scramble. Registration begins at 10:30, Lunch at 11:30 and Shotgun start at 1:00. Cost is $80.00 per golfer and includes golf, cart, lunch, dinner and beverages. If you are not a golfer, please join us for dinner (6:00pm) $15.00 per person. The Marian QBC is also seeking business sponsors for this event. We offer a variety of sponsorship options that can be found on the Marian Quarterback Club Facebook page. All proceeds benefit the Marian Colts Football Program. XLT (Exalt!), will be held Friday, April 28 from 7-9 p.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, PA. The event, co-sponsored by the Diocesan Vocation Office and Office for Parish Life, will consist of Eucharistic Adoration, praise & worship music by Francis Zelinka (from Full Armor Band), a talk by seminarian Ryan Glenn, reconciliation, and a social.
