ACKNOWLEDGMENTS 
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my adviser, Dr. Mohammad 
Ilyas for his support and motivation throughout the thesis work. There were multiple 
times when I questioned my decision to undertake the thesis option. Every time, he 
successfully talked me out of it and put me back on track. I would also like to thank 
Dr. Clovis Tondo, who not only pushed me to work on my masters, but continued to 
give me words of wisdom when I really needed them. He also got me really 
interested in PERL. I have saved countless hours with the PERL scripts that I have 
written including the one which I used for analyzing enormous amount of data 
generated by ns-2 trace files.
I owe a lot to Dr. Praveen Sanigepalli for guiding me through the set up of the 
use cases for simulation and helping me during the analysis of data. I learnt a lot 
from him in terms of understanding of WiMAX and QoS. Running and setting up the 
ns-2 would not have been possible without invaluable help from Avinash Srinivasan.
Avinash also gave very timely tips during the writing. 
I would also like to thank Dr. Imad Mahgoub and Dr. Borko Furht for being 
part my committee.
