What is Networking Hardware?

Networking hardware, also known as network equipment or computer networking devices, are electronic devices which are required for communication and interaction between devices on a computer network

What is a HUB?

• Hubs are devices commonly used to connect segments of a LAN. The hub contains multiple ports.
• Hubs send data from one computer to all other computers on the network.

What is a SWITCH?

• Switch is networking

hardware that connects devices on a computer network by using packet switching to receive and forward data to the destination device.

ROUTER

• A piece of electronic equipment on a computer network that controls the movement of information around the network;
• It connects networks that use the same protocol

BRIDGE

• A type of computer network device that provides interconnection with other bridge; 
• It connects networks and sends packages of data between them

GATEWAY

Gateways are network nodes equipped for interfacing with another network that uses different protocols.

MODEM

A Modem (modulator-demodulator) is a device that modulates an analog carrier signal to encode digital information, and also demodulates such a carrier signal to decode the transmitted information.

FIREWALL

• Firewalls are devices used to protect a more secure network from a less secure network.
• Firewalls generally protect your internal LAN from the internet.

REPEATER

• A device that receives and delivers signals
• It sends the digital signals further on in the network
• Built-in to hubs or switches

WIRELESS ACCESS POINT

A device that allows wireless devices

to connect to a wireless network
