Aims and objectives of the research: The aim of the research is to organize the coverage of the historical toponymy of Central Asia in the works of Russian tourists of the XVII-XIX centuries

Relevance of the topic: The travelogues of many Russian tourists and traders who came to Central Asia in the XVII-XIX centuries allowed to classify the geographical names and toponyms of the region periodically and systematically, and these travelogues are of great importance in the study of toponyms with historical and ethnographic features.

Aims and objectives of the research: The aim of the research is to organize the coverage of the historical toponymy of Central Asia in the works of Russian tourists of the XVII-XIX centuries. The research task was to classify the historical toponyms found in their works, to interpret the meaning of geographical names using local sources, to determine the correct position of the toponyms reflected in the travelogues.

Scientific novelty of the research: In the master's dissertation the historical toponyms in the travelogues of Russian tourists were classified by region and put into one system. The transformation of some place names, socio-economic and historical factors of the emergence of toponyms were organized through travelogues, and their territorial specificity was identified.
