The Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership is an island based science education and research program. We teach students the scientific process through learning alongside real scientists who are investigating the local marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
Theory of Change If-Then Statement
IF we integrate science education and scientific research THEN we will develop the leaders we need to solve important local, regional, national and international environmental issues.

What is your vision & what UN SDG will be addressed?

Who are the stakeholders you will need to engage?

1. 
   Schools lack the resources to teach high quality science education that is engaging for students.
   
2. 
   The Penobscot Bay fishery is collapsing and there is minimal local scientific research to help us understand the problems and solutions.
   
3. 
   We need to build leadership capacity in our schools and scientific community if we are going to solve these problems.
