Abu Ali Ibn Sina

Abu Ali al-Hussein ibn Abdullah ibn al-Hasan bin Ali (980.8, Afshona village, 1037.18.6 Hamadon, Iran) is a great Central Asian encyclopaedist who made a great contribution to the development of world science. In the west it is known as Avicenna.

Ibn Sina's father, Abdullah Balkh, moved to Bukhara during the reign of the Samanids, Noah ibn Mansur (967-997), and was appointed finance officer in the village of Khuraysan. He is married to a girl named Sitora in the village of Afshona and has two sons. The eldest of his sons was Hussein (Ibn Sina) and the youngest Mahmud.

At the age of 5, Hussein's family moved to the capital, Bukhara, to study. At the age of ten, Ibn Sina fully mastered the Qur'an and the Qur'an. He is also engaged in calculations and algebra, and is fluent in Arabic and literature. Ibn Sina's first teacher in the field of science was Abu 'Abdullah Notili. He became known as a judge and philosopher, and gave his father, Ibn Sina, a disciple.

At Notilian's hands, the scientist learned logic, geography, and astronomy, and in some philosophical ways he surpassed his teacher. Seeing the mind of Ibn Sina, his teacher instructed his father not to pursue anything other than knowledge. The father then provided the son with all the facilities for learning and deepening his knowledge. Abu Ali continued to read and study various fields of knowledge. He studied music, optics, chemistry, and jurisprudence, especially in medicine, and began to grow in science.

The great success of Ibn Sina in the medical science was made by another doctor from Bukhara Abu Mansur al-Hasan ibn Nuh al-Kumri. Ibn Sina learned medicine from him and learned many secrets of this science. Kumyri was very old in this period and died in 999.
