CONCLUSION
To summarize, Romanticism is a collection of poets that highlighted the importance of nature in our lives as well as the condition of solitude when contemplating nature and worshiping God. They also used their emotions and experiences in their poetry. Furthermore, Romantics tended to retreat to their imaginations in order to attain what they desired, which was difficult in reality. Overall, no one can deny the contribution of romantic poets to the social sciences, particularly literature and poetry.
'Wordsworth's Romanticism asserts that the intellectual content of his poetry has no bearing on its success. Returning to the Enlightenment traditions in which Wordsworth's intellect was trained, and seeing the sublime structure of his poetry, one might refute this assumption.'
To comprehend Romanticism, we must consider the author: the piece of art and its author are one and the same, and they cannot be separated. New notions like intellectual talent, originality, imagination, expressiveness, and feelings are introduced, and all of these will become the new 'decorum' for romantic novelists. The poet expresses his ideas, experiences, affections, and passions on paper, resulting in a spontaneous rush of passionate feelings, as Wordsworth put it. As Wordsworth noted, poetry is not concerned with objective or historical facts; rather, it is concerned with the impressions that these facts may make in the receiver's mind. Poetry expresses a warm manner of dealing with reality.
"Within itself not only the ground but also the limit of its being and its reality," said the youthful Schelling of the human soul. The limits we face are required if we are to have a conscious self, an identity; nevertheless, understanding these limitations for what they are changes them into borders. European romanticism is infused with this challenging, unsettling concept. And it is Wordsworth who provides it the most unforgettable statement in English.'
Romanticism was a movement that was interested in social sciences such as poetry. This movement began in North America and Europe, where society was rapidly evolving and the industrial revolution was nearing its apex in the early 1800s. Unlike the Enlightenment, which occurred at the same time, Romanticism emphasized the writer's emotions and feelings over his rationality and objectivity. Furthermore, Romanticism is noted for its veneration and interest in nature, which can be a refuge from life's sorrows, difficulties, and sufferings, and which individuals contemplate independently. Furthermore, Romanticism valued mental imagery and creativity over facts and truth. While the Enlightenment and Romanticism both occurred around the same time period, their emphasis and themes of interest were vastly different, as were their thinkers.
It's no coincidence that American Romanticism is known as "American" Romanticism. That's because, while the writers who made up this movement shared many traits with their European counterparts over the ocean, they also established their own particular brand of Romanticism.
The movement was influenced in particular by the US's distinctive history and terrain. The American Romantics were focused with issues of democracy and freedom, which had their origins in the American Revolution, which led to the country's independence from Britain in 1776.
The natural scene of America, which is quite different from that of Europe, also had a significant impact on the movement's writers. For example, in American Romantic literature, "the frontier" is a major theme. Those things are really ridiculous.
The American Romantic period, which spanned around 1830-1870, was a period of fast expansion and growth in the United States that encouraged literary intuition, imagination, and individualism. When you think of 'romantic stories,' you generally think of a romance novel in which a half-dressed woman has some Fabio-esque gentleman swooping down on her. In the American Romantic period, that is NOT what we're talking about. Don't get me wrong: Romantic literature, like those novels, is thrilling and unbelievable, but it's much more than a wild love story. America was still very young in 1830, only fifty years after the Revolutionary War, but its citizens were eager to forge their own identity that was truly American and less reliant on European traditions. As a result, the American Romantic movement posed a challenge to the highly rational thinking prevalent throughout the Revolutionary War's Age of Reason. More stories, novels, and poetry were written during this time period than instructional texts.
