Sentence Structure Errors
Fragments, run-ons, and comma splices are the three most prevalent types of sentence construction problems made by students.
1) Fragments: Fragments are statements that are missing parts. They frequently consist of a subject but no predicate.
A child with a rash, for example.
Because the medications have a lot of adverse effects, for example.
2) Run-on clauses: Run-on clauses are two independent sentences that are not coupled in a grammatically proper way.
For instance, once the doctor completed the operation, the patient died.
3) Comma splices: Comma splices (CS) are two distinct clauses linked by a comma, which is not technically acceptable.
For instance, the doctor did the surgery, but the patient died.
Phonological Mistakes
When a youngster makes a phonological error, he or she says one sound instead of another. This is referred to as a "phonological process" since it occurs in a predictable pattern.
-When a child wants to say words that contain sounds they can't pronounce yet, the toddler will substitute easy sounds for the later developing sounds they can't pronounce.
-As they learn to speak and develop their speech sounds, all children adopt similar mistake patterns.
-For different sorts of faults, these patterns of errors usually resolve themselves at different ages. As an example,
-'Final consonant deletion' (leaving off sounds at the end of words) is a common mistake pattern in young children up until the age of three years and three months.
Phonological errors can alter the meaning of words as well as the message being communicated. For the listener, this might be perplexing, and for the child who is not being understood, it can be frustrating. Speech Pathologists assist children with phonological problems in changing the pattern of their errors because they can usually speak the sound they are having trouble with.
