This activity brings the language of the section
into the real world. Students take turns to
describe to a partner an IT problem that
happened to them, and the solution. Ideally, this
would be a problem with a spreadsheet but if
they have had little experience with
spreadsheets, any IT problem will do, especially
if it relates to the topic of a previous unit.
Further practice is provided by asking students
to form new pairs and describe the problem they
heard, not the one they themselves described.
This will help them focus on both understanding
and communicating meaning from the
beginning of this activity.
