Students now look in more depth at two of the
headings in the CV, Technical skills and Personal
skills, and personalise the concepts in discussion
with another student by relating them to their
own lives. With stronger classes, encourage
students to take this as far as they can beyond
the language on the page – they may be able to
think of a wide range of personal and technical
skills. Where there are things they wish to say
but for which they are struggling with the
language, supply them with the correct words:
providing language when the student has a need
to know it and have an interest in it is one of the
best ways to ensure learning occurs.
