3 — What is personalized learning?
Personalized learning is a way to actually enact the pedagogy we believe in and that kids thrive in,” said Tavenner, the founder of Summit Public Schools, a California-based charter network that operates about a dozen of its own personalized-learning schools while licensing its personalized-learning software
to hundreds of others.Personalized learning is intended to facilitate the academic success of each student by first determining the learning needs, interests, and aspirations of individual students, and then providing learning experiences that are customized—to a greater or lesser extent—for each student. To accomplish this goal, schools, teachers, guidance counselors, and other educational specialists may employ a wide variety of educational methods, from intentionally cultivating strong and trusting student-adult relationships to modifying assignments and instructional strategies in the classroom to entirely redesigning the ways in which students are grouped and taught in a school.
50 — 1.Differences between Routine and strategy-oriented decisions and Policy-related and operational decisions
Operational decisions are about how you’re going to carry out your strategic decisions. They’re considered medium-term decisions versus strategic long-term decisions. Like strategic decisions, they're focused on growth but they target the production process. They're “the how” of meeting your strategic goals.
For example, let’s say you have a cafe and it’s one of three in your neighborhood. Part of your strategic plan might be to attract customers away from the other cafes to come to yours instead. An operational decision might be the printing and distributing of discount coupons or the construction of a play area for children.
Operational decisions are about the details of work that needs to be done to meet your strategic plan’s goals and implementing those details.Generally, operational managers and other staff members make operational decisions. An operational decision influences day-to-day activities and only has a short-term impact on a business. These include scheduling employees or equipment use, what products to purchase from suppliers, executing a billing calculation for a patient, and determining how much inventory to keep are only some of the examples of operational decisions.Note that nowadays, the differences between tactical and operational decisions are often blurred.
