1. Designing Material

Students’ part and Teacher’s notes

Based on what you have learned in Materials Design and Evaluation course, you should develop a unit including Students’ part and Teacher’s notes for school learners of English at an appropriate level.

You will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

Criteria for evaluation of the Students part

 Evidence of encouraging critical thinking in tasks

 Variety of language skills that enable the learners to gain the mastery of the content/topic

 Practical Grammar and Vocabulary applications are well integrated into the material

 Relevance of an input material (eg. a reading text, video extract etc.) to the activities, and level

Language of instructions

 Layout/design

 Visual support

Criteria for evaluation of the Teacher’s part

 Quality and clarity of rationale, including definition of a target group, level etc.

 Clear explanation of the activities from Student’s part

 Appropriate and clear instructions to the teacher



 Clear cross-referencing to student’s material
