Objective: to study the morphological and anatomical structure of the rhizomes of the Bergenia 
crassifolia 
Materials and methods: The material for the study was the rhizomes Bergeniacrassifolia (U) 
Fritsch, introduced into the experimental site of TashFarmI. The structure of rhizomes was studied

on transverse sections and pressure preparations (cross section) prepared by hand according to the 
generally accepted method [2]. 
Results:Rhizome thick, creeping, reaches several meters in length and up to 3.5 cm in thickness. A 
large vertical root leaves the rhizome. 
When considering the transverse section, it is seen that the rhizome has a beam type of structure. 
Cover cloth consists of 4 to 5 rows of cork cells. Conductive beams - open collateral, are arranged 
in a discontinuous ring. The parenchyma of the cortex, the core rays and the core consist of large 
thin-walled cells, round in cross section, filled with starch grains and Druzes of calcium oxalate. In 
the parenchyma, there are large intercellular spaces (aerogenes). Starchy grains are simple, rounded. 
When examining a given preparation, one can see: groups of parenchymal cells often colored brown 
(tannins) containing doses of calcium oxalate and starch grains, fragments of stairways, ladder-
netted and, rarely, spiral vessels, fragments of a cork consisting of layers of thick-walled cells 
Conclusions: Thus, the diagnostic sign of Bergenia crassifoliais the bundle type of the structure of 
the rhizome, the presence of starch and dyes of calcium oxalate in the parenchyma, the presence in 
the parenchyma of individual cells of brown color containing tannins.
