AFP CT CHAPTER 2016 PROGRAM SCHEDULE

  • Thursday, January 21: What Every Fundraiser Needs to Know About Falling Donor Retention Rates. Speaker: Andrew Cecil, Account Executive –Bloomerang. Radisson Hotel Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell, CT. 8:30-10:00 am. This interesting workshop explores the Fundraising Effectiveness Project report commissioned by AFP and the Urban Institute. The dismal news in this report can and should be an eye opener for every nonprofit engaged in fundraising. This presentation will focus on the root causes of poor retention rates, and offer tips for improvement based on the principles of Dr. Adrian Sargeant and Tom Ahern: two world-renowned authorities on building donor loyalty.

  • Thursday, May 19: Using Events to Leverage Donor Engagement & Increase Giving. Radisson Hotel Cromwell, 100 Berlin Road, Cromwell, CT. 8:30-10:00 am. A considerable amount of work goes into planning and running a fundraising event. The committee, the sponsors, the venue, the theme, the music and of course the food! But what steps are you taking before, during and after that big Gala Dinner, Walk/Run or Golf Tournament to make sure your attendees become regular donors? This session will not be a “how-to” on planning and running events. It will be a lively, interactive panel discussion that will dive into the subject of using your events as effective donor cultivation strategies to ensure the financial future of your organization. Our panel of seasoned experts will talk about their experiences and how they have successfully used fundraising events to cultivate new donors. Our distinguished panel includes: Tod Van Kirk, VP of Programs, Services and Organizational Development- Vista Life Innovations, Inc., Tara A. Knapp, VP Development, PR & Marketing-Gaylord Specialty Healthcare, and Dina Plapler, Executive Director, CT and Western MA- American Heart Association.
