Introduction

I believe now is the most exciting time to be alive for Christian. The reason I say that is twofold: (1) We may very well have the privilege to be alive when the rapture occurs and (2) We have the opportunity to reach more people today than any other generation has had.

Though we do not know how every small detail will unfold there are certain things we know to be true and the closer we get to our Lord's return the more I believe we will see unfold before our eyes.

  • The Authority: The Bible is the Word of God without error. The Bible should correct men and men should never correct the Bible, to do so is the epitome of pride and arrogance in the heart of man. 2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" We are to base our life upon the Bible. Matthew 4:4 "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

  • The Access: That Jesus is the sinless Savior and he is the only way to heaven. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

  • The Attack: There will be at least one great battle (I believe two) before the tribulation/rapture. Some believe there will be a small period of time between the rapture and the start of tribulation and some do not. We will look at that in our study.

  • The Anticipation: The rapture of the church and it will be before the tribulation.

  • The Agony: The tribulation will be the worst time in history of mankind to be alive on earth. The suffering will be intense and it will be the closest thing to hell on earth man will ever experience.

  • The Appearance: Jesus will return at the end of the tribulation and then set up his millennial kingdom as promised.

  • The Anarchy: The devil and all his forces will be defeated as they rebel against Jesus at the end of the millennium and all true believers will live with Jesus forever in eternity future.

I believe it is important to study these events and it will help us to live a holier life and see our need to get the gospel out to others before it is too late. Revelation was not written to satisfy our curiosity but to reveal the Lord Jesus Christ.

I pray that this study will challenge, encourage and strengthen your faith. If you are saved God wants to use you in a great way. May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you and work through you as you seek to serve and glorify his great name. Jesus alone is great and he will not share his glory with any man. Isaiah 42:8 "I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images."

Dedication

To: My fellow pastors who love God, preach the Bible and desire to have their church be a lighthouse until Jesus comes.

They are seeking to share the gospel and warn of the judgment to come. They refuse to compromise with the world and hold the standard of the Word of God high. They are men of integrity who walk with God and without their leadership are country would be in far worse shape today.

Though I realize these types of churches are not as common as they once were, there are many faithful men on the front lines leading the charge for what is right. I commend you and I thank God for you. There have been many faithful preachers who have been a great encouragement and help to me through the years. I am deeply appreciate each one and I am inspired by their example and dedication. What you do for the Lord for the Lord is extremely important and you have made a great impact for eternity. 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."

Do not give up and never quit. America needs you and by the grace of God he will do great things through you. Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

A Special Word of Appreciation

To the members of Keystone Independent Baptist Church. They are the finest group of Christians in any church in the world. I am privileged to be called their pastor.

About the Author

Lesson One The Battlefield for Jerusalem

Text: Psalm 83:1-18

(1) Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God. (2) For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. (3) They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones. (4) They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance. (5) For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee: (6) The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes; (7) Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre; (8) Assur also is joined with them: they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah. (9) Do unto them as unto the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kison: (10) Which perished at Endor: they became as dung for the earth. (11) Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yea, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna: (12) Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession. (13) O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. (14) As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; (15) So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. (16) Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. (17) Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: (18) That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

Introduction: I believe this battle will take place before the rapture and it will be in fulfillment of Psalm 83. I believe that this battle will be soon. No one knows the exact day and hour except God himself. The stage is set and there is nothing that needs to happen for the rapture to occur. It can literally happen at any moment. As Christians we need to understand what is going on in the world today. We need to have a sense of urgency in serving God, getting the gospel out and making sure we are glorifying God with our life. It will involve the nations that border Israel and seek their total destruction.

Illustration: One of the worst cases of hatred I have ever come across is found in a will written in 1935 by a Mr. Donohoe. It says, "Unto my two daughters, Frances Marie and Denise Victoria, by reason of their unfilial attitude toward a doting father, . . . I leave the sum of $1.00 to each and a father's curse. May their lives be fraught with misery, unhappiness, and poignant sorrow. May their deaths be soon and of a lingering malignant and torturous nature." The last line of the will is so vicious I shudder to quote it. It reads, "May their souls rest in hell and suffer the torments of the condemned for eternity." Our Daily Bread, February 18, 1994.

This is the type of hate that will cause this battle we are looking at. This hate has led to this awful war and has put murder and destruction in their hearts. Matthew 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:" If we do not take the Word of God seriously, then our judgment will be serious when we ignore his word and go against it with our actions. The things you read in the news do not happen by accident, there are root causes that make them what they are.

  1. The Pursuit (83:1-8)

  1. Their cry: God we need your help get involved in our affairs. Psalm 83:1 "Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God." There were some things that they needed from God.

  • His attention: Do not let what is going on go unnoticed by you. Zechariah 2:8 "For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye."

  • His action: We need God to take action now before it is too late. The imminent danger was at their doorstep and they knew that they needed God's help. Jehoshaphat faced a difficult situation and he reached out to God for help. 2 Chronicles 20:12 "O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee."

  • His affection: They need the care and mercy of the God of heaven. 1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." God loves and is very concerned about the welfare of his people. Zechariah 2:8 "For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye."

  1. Their concern: The great uprising of those that hate God and want to take it out on Israel is unfolding. They clearly hate God and anyone that is intimately identified with him. Psalm 83:2 "For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head."

  2. Their consultation: is against Israel. Psalm 83:3 "They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones."

  • Skilled deception: They will cunning devise an evil scheme. What they say in public will not convey the evil of their private conversation. They do not want peace with Israel, it is a ploy to try to gain an advantage so they can destroy them. The more land they get the harder it is for Israel to defend itself.

  • Syndical desires: They do not want anything good for Israel, they plot against them continually and will never be satisfied as long as Israel exists as a nation. If you listen to what Arab leaders are saying today it is evident that they want the total destruction of Israel. Leaders from Iran and other Muslim countries have made this fact very clear.

  1. Their cruelty: They want to destroy Israel as a nation. They want to wipe out their existence and any memory of them as a people. Psalm 83:4 "They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance."

  • Total destruction: They are not just seeking to defeat them but they want them destroyed so that they no longer exist as a nation. This deep seated hatred is satanic to the core. Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins." Their hatred stirs up the strife which leads to war and causes great heartache for many people.

  • Total denial: They do not want them to even be remembered. Because their existence is a reminder of the goodness of God and gives evidence of his existence and power. They are so rooted in hatred and evil that they want to destroy everything and everyone that gives any glory to God. They do not want any reminders of his power, protection or existence. The fingerprints of Satan are all over this evil practice and plan.

  1. Their confederacy: This would be nations that border Israel and seek to destroy them and conquer their land.

  • Their bond: They all hate Israel. It is not that they love each other because they have differences and do not have an intimate friendship. They just happen to loath the same country and will do anything to get rid of it.

  • Their borders: they all border Israel and are close to each other. If you follow the news in the Middle East these are names that you would be familiar with.

  • Tabernacles of Edom = Palestinians/Jordanians (Southern part)

  • Ishmaelites = Saudi Arabia

  • Moab = Palestinians/Jordanians (Central part)

  • Hagarenes = Egyptians (Descendants from Hagar)

  • Gebal = Hezbollah and the Northern Lebanese

  • Ammon = Palestinians/Jordanians (Northern part)

  • Amalek = Arabs of Sinai area

  • Philistines = Hamas of Gaza strip

  • Tyre = Hezbollah and the Southern Lebanese

  • Assyria = Syrians and the Northern Iraqi's

  • Their blindness: They are all filled with hate and use the young as human sacrifices to get their way. Children are taught from a young age to hate Israel. Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins." This alone shows how truly satanic this philosophy and practice is and we need to condemn it and stand up against it for it is wicked. The Muslim religion is built on hate and conquering by military might not persuading the hearts and minds of people with the truth. Contrast with Christianity which is built upon the love of Jesus who gave his life for us.

  • The boomerang: They will all work together to try to destroy Israel. However what they are seeking to do to Israel will be done to them and they will be wiped out. Daniel 6:24 "And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den." Remember the solemn clarity of Galatians 6:7 " Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." It is during this time that I believe Damascus will be destroyed and no longer be inhabited."

  1. The Prayer (83:9-18)

  1. A review of history: (83:9-12) We see here a history lesson that seeks for God to repeat some things now that he has done gloriously for Israel in the past. The nation of Israel had a great history and sadly they suffered when the younger generation either was ignorant of their history or was not interested in it. Sadly today many young people in America today know nothing of our glorious heritage and how God made us a nation and used us in a great way. When we look at the past it can help us in the present and give us hope for the future. The Psalmist here knew the rich history of Israel and was looking for God to work in a great way.

  • The mighty blessing: God did incredible things for the nation of Israel. God fought for them and gave them a great victory. Judges 4:7 "And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand."

  • The place: This river was were two great victories for Israel had taken place. Were Sisera was defeated and Elijah had slain the prophets of Baal. 1 Kings 18:40 "And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there."

  • The power: God gave them the victory and delivered them into his hand. He gave them the victory over a stronger and bigger enemy and they are asking God to do it again.

  • The miracle battle: Gideon and his band of 300 men defeat a mighty army of over 100,000 men. Judges 7:25 "And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan." God is still on the throne and his power has not diminished and he can give us the victory today as well no matter how impossible it seems.

  • A mighty victory: they were outnumbered. Judges 8:10 "Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword."

  1. A revival of help: (83:13-18) They have a serious threat from the enemy and they need God's help in a big way.

  • Punish the enemy: Lord put the pressure on them so that they are blown away. He is seeking for them to be no more attack Israel or to be a problem to God's people. Treasury of David puts it this way. "Let them have no quiet. May their minds eternally revolve and never come to peace. Blow them away like thistle down,"

  • Persecute the enemy: Lord defeat them and give them what they deserve. They have attacked you and hate those things which you love. Treasury of David makes it plain what God will do. "The Lord will follow up his enemies, alarm them, and chase them till they are put to a hopeless rout. He did this, according to the prayer of the present Psalm, for his servant Jehoshaphat; and in like manner will he come to the rescue of any or all of his chosen."

  • Promote thy glory over the enemy: He is asking for God to glorify his great name. Those that have rebelled against God, will be judged accordingly. God will honor his word and fulfill every promise he made in the Bible. Men have the opportunity to repent like Rehab did, but if they do not they will be destroyed. Isaiah 48:11 "For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another."

Food for Thought

With all the fighting and conflict how will we know when it is actually the Psalm 83 War. That is a good question and I believe there will be three definite things that will happen to let us know this is the case. The fourth item listed will happen sometime after the war is over and I do not believe that it will take very long for it to happen. Remember I believe this battle will occur before the tribulation.

  1. The attack: Of all these border nations will come against Israel at one time. The goal will be to destroy the nation of Israel. They will launch a unified attack that will be defeated by Israeli Defense Forces.

  2. The annihilation: Of Damascus. Isaiah 17:1,14 " (1) The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap. (14) And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us." I believe that this city will be destroyed by Israel with a nuclear weapon and in one night it will be completely wiped out.

  3. The acquiring: The land of their neighbor's that they defeat. Israel will now occupy and control all the resources of their oil rich neighbors. No more land for peace deals, Israel will take care of business in this battle. I do not think Israel will be able to hold these acquired lands by themselves. I believe either America or NATO forces will have to aid in this project. This will also project Israel into a feeling of safety with neighbors defeated and allies in neighboring countries that used to be bitter enemies.

  4. The appeal: I believe the Muslim (Arab) nations that are not destroyed will appeal to Russia for help to deal with Israel. Russia will be more than happy to comply with this request to assert their power in the region and lay claim to the oil reserves, power and financial spoil they lust for. Perhaps after the collapse or economic set back of America or key players in NATO they will have to retreat some or all of their troops. Russia may see this as their chance to go in and take out Israel setting the stage for the next battle in Ezekiel 38 and 39.

[For further insights on the battle of Psalm 83 see the book written by Bill Salmus. He has also been interviewed on the internet (lamblion.com) and other websites as well. You will find helpful articles by Bill Salmus on this subject. He does a good job of outlining the details of this event as described in Psalm 83.]

Lesson Two The Battlefield of Greed

(Gog and Magog Part One)

Text: Ezekiel 38 & 39

Introduction: In this battle we will see the outer ring of Muslim nations ask Russia for help in defeating their hated enemy of Israel. After Israel wipes out the inner ring of Muslim nations that are mentioned in Psalm 83, but they are not mentioned here. The size and power of this army will be more than the Israeli Defense Forces can handle and God will miraculously intervene and give Israel the victory. I believe this battle will happen before the rapture.

Illustration: Leo Tolstoy once wrote a story about a successful peasant farmer who was not satisfied with his lot. He wanted more of everything. One day he received a novel offer. For 1000 rubles, he could buy all the land he could walk around in a day. The only catch in the deal was that he had to be back at his starting point by sundown. Early the next morning he started out walking at a fast pace. By midday he was very tired, but he kept going, covering more and more ground. Well into the afternoon he realized that his greed had taken him far from the starting point. He quickened his pace and as the sun began to sink low in the sky, he began to run, knowing that if he did not make it back by sundown the opportunity to become an even bigger landholder would be lost. As the sun began to sink below the horizon he came within sight of the finish line. Gasping for breath, his heart pounding, he called upon every bit of strength left in his body and staggered across the line just before the sun disappeared. He immediately collapsed, blood streaming from his mouth. In a few minutes he was dead. Afterwards, his servants dug a grave. It was not much over six feet long and three feet wide. The title of Tolstoy's story was: How Much Land Does a Man Need? Bits & Pieces, November, 1991.

  1. The Announcement (Ezekiel 38:2-4)

(2) "Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, (3) And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal: (4) And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:"

  1. The declaration: It is made clear by the prophet that he is preaching against them. He is not seeking to be politically correct, but biblically accurate.

  2. The defeat: God is against them and he will defeat this coalition that has come together against his people.

  1. The Army (Ezekiel 38:5-6)

(5) "Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: (6) Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee."

  1. The chief: Russia will lead this invasion. They have the military and the might to do it. They also have an alliance with the Iran and other Arab countries in the region.

  2. The coalition: Persia (modern day Iran and Iraq), Ethiopia, Libya and the outer ring of Muslim nations. Except for Russia this will be mostly Muslim nations attacking Israel. Russia will be doing it for greed and the others for hatred.

  1. The Action (Ezekiel 38:11-13)

(11) "And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates, (12) To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land. (13) Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? hast thou gathered thy company to take a prey? to carry away silver and gold, to take away cattle and goods, to take a great spoil?"

  1. The motive: to attack Israel will be twofold.

  • The greed: Will be by the leader Russia. They will seek to control the vast majority of the oil reserves of the world by taking over the Middle East. Israel at this time will have great riches in oil, gas and other valuable assets. If Russia controls the oil of the middle east it would make them the dominant world power.

  • The godless: Muslim nations will be motivated by their satanic hatred of the Jews. They are so filled with hate that seek to destroy the Jews. The Jews are a living testament to the promises and power of God being fulfilled. Satan wants to wipe out the Jews so that claim can no longer be made.

  1. The move: To attack will come by surprise. The Jews in Israel will be living in peace and safety when this happens. There will be no alert or expectation of attack.

  2. The majority: Of those not involved in the attack will protest and accuse Russia of the motive of greed. No doubt the attack will be "condemned" by other political leaders and on the news, but that will not stop it. When a leader who aggressively attacks others today they do not care about the United Nations or anyone else condemning their actions. They will do what they want unless someone stops them by force.

  3. The mighty: Some would say why would not America defend Israel in this battle. There are several possibilities for that could cause that.

  • Because of the rapture: It would affect the USA more than any other leading nation. We would lose more people and people who would be in influential positions. We would cease to be a world power almost overnight. That could be why we are not mentioned in prophecy, but I think this battle will occur before the rapture. It could possibly happen just after the rapture as well.

  • Because of retribution: The judgment of God will strike in a twofold way.

  • Monetary collapse: The god of money we worship, would be our demise. We have incredible debt and our economy is on the brink of disaster. We have sinned greatly against God, we have worshipped money and forsaken Jesus. Our sin has blinded us and our country could collapse and turn into a third world nation very soon. Right now the only thing keeping our economy from collapsing is that the dollar is the reserve currency of the world. If that changes we would be devastated since we could no longer "print money" to solve our problems. If our monetary supply was based on our production of goods we would be in the midst of a financial meltdown. If we collapse financially we could no longer defend ourselves let alone anyone else. We sell bonds to finance our debt (over 15 Trillion dollars) and we need to remember this verse. Proverbs 22:7 "The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender."

  • Military conquest: We would be destroyed or taken down as a world power. We most likely would become some part of a Western European alliance. It is possible that Russia could launch a preemptive strike against us so we would not try to stop them. Or they may only need to do a EMP attack and that could cripple us. A successful EMP attack would destroy our power grid rendering us helpless.

  • Because of rebellion: By turning our back on God and Israel completely. You say that could never happen, we are not far from that scenario right now.

  • Because of retaliation: Threats made by the Russians and their allies. They could threaten military action, an EMP strike, or financial threats. If oil was priced in another currency, or convince the other nations of the world we need a different reserve currency for the world our economy and country would quickly collapse.

  1. The Affection (Ezekiel 38:21-23)

(21) "And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother. (22) And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. (23) Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD."

  1. His passion: God loves his people. Jeremiah 31:3 "The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."

  2. His power: He will defend his people from this attack. Humanly speaking they have no hope, but God displays his power and man in all his might is no match for God. Genesis 1:3 "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." We see that God made something out of nothing and only he can that. When you combine his great love for Israel and his power that is a mighty defense. God protects what he loves.

  3. His promises: God said he would restore Israel and one day Jesus will rule from David's throne in Jerusalem. Every promise God made will be fulfilled.

  4. His praise: The world will know that Jesus is God. He will get the praise and glory for what is done in this battle. In I Corinthians 1:27-29 we see that God will be glorified and he does not need great men to do it. 1 Corinthians 1:27 "But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (28) And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: (29) That no flesh should glory in his presence."

  1. The Agony (Ezekiel 39:9-12)

(9) And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years: (10) So that they shall take no wood out of the field, neither cut down any out of the forests; for they shall burn the weapons with fire: and they shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robbed them, saith the Lord GOD. (11) And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will give unto Gog a place there of graves in Israel, the valley of the passengers on the east of the sea: and it shall stop the noses of the passengers: and there shall they bury Gog and all his multitude: and they shall call it The valley of Hamongog. (12) And seven months shall the house of Israel be burying of them, that they may cleanse the land.

  1. The devastation: A large majority of this army will be killed. I believe the number that will be killed here will be over 1 million people. Russia's army is large (over 1 million currently) and they will have several other nations (Iran's army is over 500,000) with them and their will be great destruction. The army attacking Israel will be around 2 million with a full arsenal of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

  2. The dead: It will take seven months to bury the dead. There will be people doing this full time for seven months and it will be a monumental task to complete.

  3. The destruction: They will need seven years to destroy all the weapons of the enemy from this battle. That is why I believe this battle will be before the rapture. You would not have them burning weapons in the millennium. Most likely they will not be doing it after the Anti-Christ persecutes Jews in the second half of the tribulation. Most likely be end by the midpoint in the tribulation, so I think this battle will be around 3 1/2 years before the rapture. It is possible this battle could happen right after the rapture and that these weapons are destroyed in an underground facility not known by the enemy. Only God knows for sure, but this battle will happen in the future exactly as God said it will. The rapture is the next great event on the prophetic calendar.

  1. The Acknowledgment (Ezekiel 39:21-22)

(21) And I will set my glory among the heathen, and all the heathen shall see my judgment that I have executed, and my hand that I have laid upon them. (22) So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day and forward.

  1. The recognition: Of God in this great battle. It will be so obvious that it will be acknowledged that God intervened for the nation of Israel. The unbelieving will see the handiwork of God and will admit that it was God who did it. Today man tries to explain everything away, but that will not happen this time. Psalm 104:31 "The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works."

  2. The realization: Especially from Israel of who the true and living God is and this will make them more God conscious. This could sow the seeds that can lead to revival and people being saved in great numbers. Psalm 85:6 "Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?" No matter what time frame we are talking about in the Bible God is always interested in seeing people saved. 2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."

Lesson Three The Battlefield of Devastation

Text: Revelation 6:1-21

Introduction: This devastation takes place on several fronts. War, famine, natural disasters and death will come quickly. This will happen swiftly and be a serve judgment from God. This will be a large scale war that will have nuclear weapons that will be used. The timeframe will be in the beginning of the tribulation period. I think it will likely happen about 1 year after the start of the tribulation. All of these judgments will be after the rapture.

The stage is being set for these six seal judgments, indicates that the Rapture could not only happen at any moment but it could happen soon, even today. Revelation 6 to 19 cover the seven years known as the Tribulation Period. Daniel 9:20-27 refers to it as the 70th week, Jeremiah as Jacob's Trouble (30:7). The reason the church is not mentioned is because the rapture took place in Revelation 4:1.
