Peoria County to Hold Tire Collections

West Peoria – West Peoria is hosting Peoria County’s fourth fall tire collection this Saturday:

November 6, 2010

9:00am – Noon

West Peoria City Hall

2505 W. Rohmann Blvd, West Peoria

Residents living in the West Peoria are encouraged to recycle used or discarded tires found on roadways, in alleys, or in vacant lots by bringing them to the public works building on Saturday. Participating residents must show proof of residency by presenting either a driver’s license or a current utility bill. Peoria County has partnered with Peoria Disposal Company and the City of West Peoria to ensure a successful tire collection event this weekend.

Local tire collection events are a great way for residents to clean up their neighborhoods by removing unwanted debris. Up to 5 tires will be accepted from each resident; a maximum number of 600 tires will be accepted at this event. Only car and light truck tires are acceptable; tractor, off-road, heavy equipment and semi-truck tires will not be accepted. Tires can either be on or off the rim. After collection, tires will be transported to a processing facility for recycling.
