Rittal at CeBIT

5 to 09 March 2013

Rittal revolutionises the data centre

A visit to the Rittal stand at CeBIT gave German Chancellor Dr Angela Merkel and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk the chance to discover the family business’s innovative portfolio for themselves. And they were particularly impressed with one of Rittal’s latest innovations: RiMatrixS, the world’s first standardised data centre. The modular system has a single model number – and an installation time of as little as six weeks.

Herborn/Hanover, 5 March 2013 – “We are the first in the world to go down this path. We want this revolutionary standardised data centre concept to be a game changer in the IT market,” emphasised Friedhelm Loh, owner and CEO of Rittal.

Up to now, each data centre was a one-off custom-built model. The entire process – from initial consultation to planning construction and integration of individual components – could take up to two years. RiMatrix S cuts this timeframe down to six weeks.

“That’s less time than it takes to have a cupboard or kitchen delivered,” enthused Chancellor Merkel.

The new data centre is modular, fully pre-assembled, and planned right down to the last detail. And this includes financial considerations: Rittal provides precise figures for energy efficiency, providing visibility into future operating costs. Visitors to the Rittal website can use the Selector to gain an initial overview of the data centre, and can calculate energy efficiency by entering just a few key pieces of information.

Rittal – one of the largest exhibitors at CeBIT

Herborn-based international provider of enclosures and system solutions Rittal is one of the largest exhibitors at CeBIT, the world’s largest ICT trade fair. At the 2,000 square metre stand, the German and Polish premiers had the opportunity to explore some of the countless new products on display. These include the Modular Safe Level E that delivers robust protection of business-critical data against physical damage caused by fire, water, smoke or unauthorised access. In addition, Rittal showcased the new LCP DX for reliable data centre cooling – ideal for environments with only a small number of IT components.

Stronger partnership with Poland

At his visit to the Rittal stand, PM Donald Tusk made clear that he is delighted about the enterprise’s increasing collaboration with Poland, CeBIT’s partner country. A Polish subsidiary has been up and running since 1999, which has already installed system technology to the tune of over 181 million euros. Moreover, Rittal has an expansive logistics centre in Poland. Including staff at sister company Eplan, it employs around 100 people.
