Descendants of Rabbi Chaim Kittsee
Rabbi Chaim Kittsee (your great-great-great-great grandfather)had 13 children (9 sons and 4 daughters).

Rabbi Chaim (Hayyim) Kittsee (1772-1849) ben (the son of) Isaac Kittsee (Margaliot) (1740-1810) and of Hanna. Isaac Kittsee was the son of Haim and of Jetel. Rabbi Chaim Kittsee was a Hungarian Rabbi whose family name was originally Schlesinger. He was born in Alt-Ofen (Obuda) were his father was the head of the "Beth Din". He served as a Dayyan (judge) in Veszprem and from 1824 as Rabbi of Albertirsa, near Budapest. He took part in the rabbinical conference at Paks in 1844 and was among the signatories to the protest against the Bruswick Conference held in that year. He was a great Talmudic and left near 60 works in manuscript like “Ozar Hayyim”, “Orah Hayyim” and “Yoreh De'ah”. His name appears in the Encyclopaedia Judaica.

Chaim Kittsse has a sister who married Shimon Klein, the son of Rabbi Jacob Klein.

Rabbi Chaim Kittsee (Schlesinger) married Haja Sara Bril in 1797, the daughter of Rabbi Israel Jehuda Arje Leb Bril (1749, Tevel-1808) and of Chajale (d 1838) from Vorplata. Rabbi Israel Jehuda Arje Leb Bril was a Rabbi in Vorplata, he was the son of Yehuda Leiv.

Chaim’s wife’s older sister married Rabbi Amram Chassida (Rosenbaum) (1790-1830). Their daughter (d. 1837 in the earthquake in Zephat) m. Rabbi Isaac Jacob Blum (d. 1851). Their son Amram Blum (1834-1907) was Rabbi, he had seven children:

1. R. Jehuda Zwi Blum (d. 1914) m. the daughter of R. Ishaja Arnfeld.

2. R. Jacob Isaac Blum (d. 1938) m. the daughter of Elasar Sussman.

3. Moshe Nahum Blum (d. WWII) m. the daughter of Moses Chaim Rasenbaum.

4. R. Ben-Zion Blum (d. WWII)

A. Meir Fishman

Anther sister of Haja Sara Bril married Kohut and had a son Israel Kohut that his son was a famous Rabbi Alexander Kohut.

Chaim Kittsee moved to Vespren in 1800.

After the death of his first wife, Chaim Kittsee married the widow of Rabbi Moshe Kanzishe the daughter of Rabbi Mordechai Tasek from Pressburg. She had a son named Rabbi Abraham Kanzishe from Yamerung.


Rabbi Chaim Kittsee’s children are:

I. Rabbi Meir Schlesinger. He was at first Rabbi and then earned his living as a salesman. He died at the age of 83 and had no children.

II. Rabbi Gershon Schlesinger. He was at 18 Eger’s Rabbi, but he wanted to study the bible and returned to his father’s house. He married the daughter of Rabbi De Franken from Temisoara and went to live there. They had no children. He died at the age of 48.

III. Rabbi Shmuel Schlesinger (Shai) (your great-great-great grandfather) (born before 1814- died before 1880) married Sheva Schwartz (died 1887 or 1888), the daughter of David Tabel Schwartz and of Rivka. David Tabel Schwartz became Chaim Kittsee’s in-law the second time as his son Rabbi Jacob Schwartz‚ married Szerchei Schlesinger (IX) (Shmuel's sister).
