Celebrate South Milwaukee with a Full Week of Heritage Days Activities
SOUTH MILWAUKEE – Heritage Days is back bigger and better than ever in 2015, with a weeklong series of family-friendly activities set for July 20-26.
Things kick off with the South Milwaukee Police Department’s DARE Golf Outing on Monday, July 20, and conclude with Lionsfest July 24-26. In between is everything from firehouse spaghetti to a downtown street festival to one of the area’s largest parades.
“Heritage Days is the best time of year to be a South Milwaukeean,” South Milwaukee Mayor Erik Brooks said. “There is literally something for everyone … and an opportunity to celebrate all that makes South Milwaukee special.”
Here is the lineup …

• 
  Monday, July 20: DARE Golf Outing. Organize your foursome now and support the South Milwaukee Police Department’s youth anti-drug efforts. Tee time is 8 a.m. at Oakwood Golf Course in Franklin.

  Tuesday, July 21: St. Luke’s United Church of Christ Ice Cream Social. Enjoy sloppy joes and, of course, ice cream – along with a South Milwaukee Municipal Band Concert and raffle. 4 to 8 p.m., band concert at 7. 1800 Milwaukee Ave.
  
• 
  Wednesday, July 22: Firehouse Spaghetti Dinner. Pasta, salad and garlic bread from Trattoria di carlo top the menu at this terrific annual tradition. 4:30 to 8 p.m.
  
• 
  Thursday, July 23: Evening on the Avenue. Celebrate our city center with a street festival featuring food, music, games, demonstrations and more. 4 to 10 p.m. Also check out the Downtown Market, which moves to 12^th and Milwaukee for the night.
  
• 
  Friday, July 24-Sunday, July 26: South Milwaukee Lionsfest. Enjoy three days of music, food, rides, games and more on the grounds at 16^th and Rawson.
  
• 
  Saturday, July 25: Heritage Days Parade. South Milwaukee’s biggest annual parade returns for 2015 with even more entries and family fun. Parade starts at 11 a.m. at Eighth and Milwaukee Avenues to 16^th, then heads north to Rawson Avenue and Lionsfest.
  
• 
  Saturday, July 25: Friends of the Mill Pond and Oak Creek Watercourse Great Duck Race. Sponsor a rubber duck or three as they float down Oak Creek toward prizes. Ducks depart from the creek at 15^th and Milwaukee at 2 p.m.
