Aikido Club

The primary purpose of this club is to practice the martial art of Aikido, but it also aims to instill discipline and help people learn self-defense. This club has been practicing with the Aikido center at South Side, where they interact with professors and other residents of South Bethlehem. They also want to spread awareness on the philosophy of Aikido. These practices would help its members relieve stress and also make valuable connections with residents from the south side. They currently have 6 members who attend the classes regularly and are looking to find more members through co-sponsorships, fliers and the club expo. They meet twice a week for their classes and so far they have had a retreat for their members as well. In the future they plan on hosting events with Lehigh After Dark and bringing in speakers who are experts on the philosophy of Aikido.
It is the recommendation of the Club Affairs committee that Student Senate XXVII accept the preliminary recognition for the Aikido Club.
