INTRODUCTION (abstract of DSc thesis) 
The aim of the research is
to conceptualize the role of Jadid educators in the 
development of Uzbek lexicography, to carry out linguistic interpretations of their 
philological dictionaries, and to substantiate their influence on the development of 
modern lexicography in Uzbekistan. 
The object of the research are
lexicographic works of Jadid educators of the 
20–30s of the XX century, articles and dictionaries in the press. 
Scientific novelty of the research includes: 
It is proved that Jadid educators have incorporated modern lexicographic 
principles into Turkish (Uzbek) lexicography and that foundation of Uzbek 
lexicography was set by Jadids; 
While comparing the content and structure of the dictionaries of the period 
the advantage of the method of comparison with the sources of the period before, 
after, and during is shown; 
revealed the combination of traditional and modern lexicographic principles 
in the selection and interpretation of words in explanatory monolingual 
dictionaries; 
it is proved that bilingual dictionaries are based on the complex usage of 
methods of selecting, interpreting, describing and combining Uzbek alternative of 
Russian words; 
the later period of the dictionary of translation is annotated and 
methodological role in creation terminological, of philological and encyclopedic 
dictionaries is proved, the tendencies of development of modern lexicography are 
revealed.
