MY TOWN
My native town is Karshi. I am proud to be its citizen. The history of Karshi is bound up with the history of Uzbekistan. The first mention of Karshi can be found in the Uzbek chronicles dated back to the 12-th century. Now Karshi is a modern town.
Our town is situated in Central Asia in the South of Uzbekistan. It lies some 450 km from Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Karshi is the administrative centre of Kashkadarya region of Uzbekistan. Karshi is a beautiful town of gardens and flowers.
Karshi is an industrial town. There are airport, railway station, numerous plants and factories, some powerful industrial enterprises in it: Karshi Repair Plant, Sewing Factory “Sanam”, Kashtex, Kashkadarya Chemical Complex and others. They produce various goods for our country and for many other countries. Karshi is rich with oil and gas too.
Karshi is a town of education. There are Karshi State University, Karshi Engineering Economical Institute, many schools, colleges and academic lyceums in it. They train thousands of specialists for our country.
The town has its cultural traditions. In Karshi one can visit the Historical Museum, the drama theatre named after M. Tashmukhamedov, the Mulokot Theatre, cinemas, libraries. New stadiums, sportsgrounds and tennis courts opened in our town. Every year International Tennis Competitions take place there.
In future Karshi will continue to grow. We like our fine town.
