1. Preparation for listening
Try to train the students to prepare themselves for listening activities. The
students need to learn what they can do to prepare themselves for any listening
activity. They should think about these questions: Do I know what I am going
to hear? Do I know anything about the people talking or what they are talking
about? If they think about these things, they can then make some predictions
about the content of the recorded text. Even guessing some of the words they
will hear will help them understand the text.
Therefore, at the preparation stage, you can sometimes ask a class what
words they expect to hear.
