Support for Tourism Development
According to the model developed by Perdue, Long, and Allen (1990), support for tourism development
results from support for additional tourism, which in turn is based on perceived impacts of tourism (both negative
and positive). This study found that there was a significant positive correlation between the Tourism Attitude scale
and the Tourism Development scale for Generation Y residents of New Orleans (Pearson’s r=0.60, p<0.01). This
bodes well for support for tourism planning in a city that has just been through a major crisis.
