LGBTQ parenting.
When an individual realizes that his or her sexual preferences are different from those considered "normal" or "straight", he or she might face problems when admitting such a fact. Nowadays most people question their sexuality, they feel confused and afraid of being rejected. A lot of people are not accepted by their families and friends due to their gender identity and sexual orientation. Centuries ago, being open and honest about such an intimate topic was much harder and exigent.
Sexual orientation primarily is the emotional or romantic attraction that a person feels towards another individual. Same-sex marriage is widely recognized and accepted around the world mainly in Western cultures. LGBTQ parenting has also been gaining acceptance; furthermore, many countries have passed laws to allow transgender individuals to change their gender legally, after sex reassignment surgery. Despite all the different perspectives and approaches, it is worth to examine how media has treated this controversial topic.
This essay will explore both, advantages and disadvantages of being LGBTQ parent, and the morality of that.
Being a parent primarily means taking a responsibly for your child’s life and providing enough secureness for them to feel comfortable. Fortunately, or unfortunately, parents have duties, because they decide whether they want to let new life begin or not. Child is not responsible for his or her parents’ decision, thus adults take the responsibility and whole control to their hands.
Are LGBTQ parents same with straight families? Do they provide a secureness and comfort to their children?
As it was mentioned above, being a member of the LGBTQ family sometimes can be very petrifying and challenging. Members are hearing lots of grimy and disgusting words from others, sometimes they cannot handle that anymore and simply kill themselves.
According to BBC news, July 2nd, 2020, suicide rates of LGBTQ community increased and now the youth of that community are under the higher risk than before. Some of the possible explanations are hopelessness, no support from government and its institutions, aggression from religious identities, and bullying.
Some of LGBTQ members’ families are refused them, and now, during the lockdown they left alone. All those facts and information proves that it is very challenging to be a part of that community. Nearly everyone has scars and mental disorders, firstly because their sexual orientation is not on track, they live abnormal life. They start feeling cognitive dissonance by time, because whatever is unnatural will bring suffering. LGBTQ people usually claim that they are born like that and they do not differentiate between types and colours of love, they say love is love. Whereas, most studies proved that it is a choice. People can be attracted to same sex people, and there are variable of reasons for that, which is natural, but they choose what they will do with that. Whether they go to psychologist and heal themselves or continue living with this disorder in their minds, which will bring fear, aggression and pain afterwards. The same happens with alcoholic people, they say we are born like that or it is their genes which take control over them, but they have a choice to fight the desire to drink and start normal life.
According to Blogs of scientific Americans: “Alcoholism runs in families not only because there us a genetic component to alcoholism, but also because children learn how to cope with stress by watching what they parents, siblings, friends or relatives do” and “Genes can affect a behaviour, but affecting something is not the same as having complete control over it.”
In case of LGBTQ people, their genes can affect their behaviour but they have a choice to overcome that situation, because they have absolute control.
As it was stated above, many things can affect a behaviour and decisions, nowadays being a LGBTQ member considers to be cool and different, thus young people who want more attention and love so they choose this way of expressing themselves. They see other people in social media and try to be “cool” like them.
Because of stated reasons, being and LGBTQ parent is double challenging compared to straight parent. A member of that group already has a scar and fear, that cannot guarantee a safe life for a child.
The Australian Medical Association (AMA), claims that children have the best outcomes when raised by their married biological mother and father. Government MP Kevin Andrews also supports the argument by saying to Sky News, that for decades we see how environment and humanity changes, and lots of science research concluded that the best environment for raising children, is having two endlessly loving biological parents. A male and a female, thus a husband and wife in stable relationship.
Besides all that, children of LGBTQ family experience bullying at school more than children of straight family, and surely more discrimination from their friends. Moreover, children of LGBTQ family are more tend to be gay compared to the children of straight people.
According to NBC news, children of gay parents are tending to have same-sex attraction as adults. That is because they see what parents do, and they want to try, because all children designed that way. They all copy what parents do. At the same time, gay parents are less likely to judge their children, that is why they feel absolute freedom to do whatever they want.
In conclusion, everyone is responsible for their own life, they chose what to do with it, people have absolute freedom. That is the reason why we have good and evil, for people to decide their own side…
