WRITE ABOUT MY HOUSE

WRITE ABOUT MY HOUSE
I live in a 10-storeyed brick block of flats in a peaceful district, not so far from the centre of the city. I moved here 6 years ago with my parents and a little sister. Our house is surrounded by a children’s park and some shops. Our flat is on the top floor and it’s 80 square meters, so it’s very light and spacious. It is also well-planned and comfortable. There are all necessary modern conveniences in the flat: hot and cold water, gas, heating, television and internet connection, electricity, a refuse chute.
We have a living-room, a kitchen, a bathroom, two bedrooms and a pantry. The biggest room is our kitchen. We cook there and have meals at a big wooden table. The gas-stove, the fridge and the sideboard for dishes and glassware are built-in. We use all modern kitchen gadgets here: an electric kettle, a microwave oven, a dish-washer, a coffee machine, a food processor, a toaster.
The view from the windows in our living-room is amazing. Our guests admire the picturesque scenery of the wood and the river. There is an artificial fire-place in the wall and a fluffy carpet on the parquet floor in the middle of the room. We often lie on it watching some good movie on TV. My mother is fond of growing plants, so the living-room is full of palm-trees and blooming plants. It looks fantastic.
I have a room of my own. According to my taste I chose the wallpaper for the walls and the furniture: a sofa with lovely cushions, a wardrobe, a writing desk and a floor lamp. The window is framed with peach silk curtains. The floor in my room is covered with wall-to-wall carpeting. I love my bedroom, it’s very cozy and warm.
Probably my flat isn’t ideal to someone’s mind. But for me it’s the best place to relax and meet my family. They say: “East or West, home is best”. My parents are very hospitable and we keep our house open for friends and relatives.
I would like to give a talk about my native house. My family lives in an own house. It is big and nice. It has three floors. In the ground there are a large living room, a kitchen, a dining room and а bathroom. In the first floor there are four bedrooms for each member of our family and a bathroom. In the second floor there is a library, my father’s study and two guest’s rooms. My room is light. It has two windows. There is a desk, a chair, a bed, two armchairs, a wardrobe in it. There are also four bookshelves and many different pictures on the walls of my bedroom, because I prefer reading and painting. In front of the house we have a beautiful garden. There are a lot of trees and flowers. My mum likes to grow plants. There is a small swimming-pool in our yard, but we can use it only when the weather is hot. Also my dad has his own garage.
Home is definitely a lot more than just a roof, four walls, windows and a door. Home is where we learn the first lessons in life. Home is the symbol of human togetherness — a place where all of us learn the first steps of life. No matter how far and how long I’m travelling, there’s always something special about coming home. ‘East or West, home is the best’ as the saying goes.
I was born in Moscow. All the facilities such as, markets, schools, hospitals, banks, museums, parks etc. are all within a walk able distance. The building where I live has nine floors and each floor has four apartments. I live on the third floor.
I live in a two bedroom apartment and it is not a very large one, but it has nice rooms with two windows. Also it has wonderful balcony and a good kitchen. The balcony is not very large, it faces the main road. There is a car parking near the house and a small children’s playground where kids could play.
I live with my parents. We are three members in our family. My dad is working as a doctor in Sklifosovsky Institute. My mom is a designer. We all make our home. I love my parents and they in turn do all they can to make my life cheerful and enjoyable. When I return from school I feel great comfort at my house.
My home is the most important place in my life.
I feel fully safe and secure in my home.
I love my sweet home.
Like anybody else, I would like to live in a house that is perfect in every way. And now I will tell you about the house of my dream.
I would like my house to be somewhere in a quiet and cozy town by the sea or just in a warm and sunny place because I do not like cold and winter. My house is not very big and it is two-storeyed. It is built of bricks and painted white, and its roof is made of tiles in a bright blue color, so it looks fresh and cool even when the weather is hot.
Around my house there is a large courtyard with flower beds and a rose garden. There are also beautifully trimmed shrubs, and in the far corner of the yard there are two pines between which a hammock is stretched. Near my house there is also a small pool with sun loungers around. The fence around the house is also made of bricks with nice wrought-iron gates.
A wide stone porch with a beautiful railing leads to the door of my house. Behind wide white double doors there is a spacious hall with walls painted beige and wrought-iron lamps on the wall and the ceiling. Nearby, there is a small beautiful hanger and a banquette to make it convenient to take off your shoes. Opposite the door there would be two armchairs and a table with fresh flowers or an elegant console.
On the ground floor of my house there is a kitchen, a dining room, and a living room. I love the Provence interior design, so the living room is spacious, with beige or white furniture, charming chandeliers made of white frosted glass, and a pastel carpet on the floor. On the windows there are curtains with large floral patterns, and by the sofa there is a coffee table made of wood. There are also several small tables for lamps and vases with fresh flowers.
The kitchen and dining room are designed in the same style as the living room. Along the wall there is a light gray kitchen set, the walls are finished with beige tiles and covered with expensive wallpaper. In the dining room there is a large table made of bleached oak, chairs with high comfortable backs, and a small elegant sofa.
On the first floor there is a bedroom and two rooms for my daughters. The younger daughter's room is made in dark pink, gray, and light brown colors. By the window there is a large desk and a convenient mirrored bookcase above it. Further from the window there is a large suede sofa and a comfortable pink beanbag. On the opposite wall there is a TV-set.
My elder daughter is a teenager, so she chose peach, white, and turquoise for her room. In her room there is a wide single bed, a comfortable desk, a wardrobe, a window sill with pillows to admire the view from the window, a mirror, and an easel because she is fond of drawing. As for our bedroom, it is also Provence-designed, but it looks more modern, with large stained glass windows, a bed with a wrought-iron back, a wooden chest of drawers, wood wall panels, and pastel curtains. From the bedroom there is a way to the large walk-in closet where my clothes and shoes are stored.
This is how the house of my dream looks like. I hope I'll have it someday.
The world consists of all types of people. Some are fortunate enough to have amenities while some aren’t. Especially in a country like India, where the majority of the population lives below the poverty line. To own a house here is no less than a luxury, one which I thankfully have. I am blessed to be protected by four walls and a roof.
It is my parent’s hard work that has given us this blessing. Many people in today’s world are always complaining about the things they don’t have. The person who has a house wants a bungalow. The one who owns a bungalow wants a palace. The one living in a palace wants an island. This never-ending cycle goes on. However, if we look at the people below us rather than those who are above us, we will be happier.
An Underrated Blessing
Having a house is an underrated blessing. If you have not realized it yet, you can go and ask any person who doesn’t have a house. Only then will you realize what a great blessing it is to have a house. Houses do not necessarily have to be luxuriously filled with the latest amenities. A house is complete if you have a roof over your head.
Moreover, if you have your loved ones around, then there can be no greater blessing. You must realize the importance of your house before it gets too late. Even I never knew how precious my house was up until one incident that changed my outlook.
We had house help growing up. The maid who used to work for us always came early in the morning and would leave in the evening. Even when my mother asked her to leave early as she completed the work on time, she never did that. On the other hand, she used to do extra work. Later we found out that she never really had a house. It was just a hut which had one chair and one folding. And that she liked spending time most of the time at our house because she had access to all basic facilities like electricity and clean water.
This incident made me realize how I took my house for granted. It is truly an underrated blessing which is overlooked by others. We must value our homes before it gets too late.
