What is the definition of terrorism? What You Can Do To Help

Terrorism is defined as the use of unlawful force or violence against people or property in order to intimidate or coerce a government or its populace into pursuing political or social goals. Domestic and foreign terrorism are the two categories of terrorism recognized by law enforcement. Domestic terrorism is based and carried out in the United States by American people acting on their own initiative. International terrorism, which is linked to foreign governments or organisations, extends beyond the borders of our country. Terrorist attacks on Americans can happen anywhere in the world.
Austin's Homeland Security would like to remind all people that if they "See Something, Say Something," if they detect anything suspicious or suspect symptoms of terrorism, they should report it to local law authorities.
What is the definition of terrorism? What You Can Do To Help
Residents in Austin can help avert terrorist strikes. Certain events or behaviors, especially when they occur at or near major facilities such as government, military, utility, or other high-profile buildings or places where big crowds meet, can suggest terrorist plotting. Suspicious behaviour can include the following:
Surveillance—Are you aware of someone near a vital site recording or watching activity, taking notes, or utilizing cameras, maps, binoculars, or other devices?
Suspicious Interrogation—Are you aware of someone seeking to obtain information about a key facility or its personnel in person, by phone, mail, e-mail, or other means?
Are you aware of any attempts to breach or test physical security or procedures at a critical facility?
Are you aware of anyone attempting to obtain explosives, weapons, ammunition, dangerous chemicals, uniforms, badges, flight manuals, access cards, or identification for a key facility in an improper manner, or to legally obtain items under suspicious circumstances that could be used in a terrorist attack?
Suspicious Individuals—
Do you know anyone who doesn't seem to belong at work, in the neighborhood, at a business, or near a critical facility? This does not imply that we should profile people, but it does imply that we should profile their conduct.
So, what are your options?

Dry Runs—Have you noticed any suspicious conduct that appears to be related to terrorist activity, such as route planning, role-playing situations with others, monitoring important facilities, timing traffic lights or traffic flow, or other suspicious activities?

Have you seen abandoned vehicles, strange items being stockpiled, or people being deployed near a crucial facility? (FBI source)

Who is the perpetrator?
What is the location of the event?
When did you notice it for the first time?
Why are you so sceptical?
The "See Something, Say Something" campaign does not advocate spying on your neighbors, invasion of privacy, or taking the law into your own hands. Individuals who appear, act, dress, or live differently from us are not profiled. It closely monitors any conduct that could be linked to terrorism.
