West Goshen Elementary School Standardized Dress Code
West Goshen Elementary School recognizes the value of a student’s individual expression; however the style of dress must be within the constraints of reasonable rules and appropriate standards that maintain an effective learning atmosphere, providing a safe, secure, and orderly educational environment for all students. If a student is found to be in violation of the standardized dress code policy, s (he) will be loaned appropriate clothing that conforms to the standardized dress code policy. Parents will then be notified to comply with the standardized dress code implemented at West Goshen Elementary School.
It is the goal of West Goshen Elementary School to not place a financial burden on parents and has made every effort to make the standardized dress code affordable. We recommend that the initial dress code policy focus on shirts for both boys and girls and implement an incremental roll-out to develop the entire dress code policy over two years. We believe focusing on shirts first will garner necessary buy-in and establish a routine and expectations for parents and students. Spirit days will be scheduled each month at the discretion of the building administrator. Each Friday during the school year, students of West Goshen Elementary School will be allowed to wear appropriate school attire that meets the Goshen Community Schools dress code policy as outlined in the student handbook.
The following standardized dress code will govern the student dress at West Goshen Elementary School.

Procedure for Non-Compliance
Students considered in non-compliance will be loaned a temporary shirt for the first offence. The school will attempt to contact the student’s parent or guardian to request the parent bring appropriate clothing that complies with the standardized dress code policy. Students considered in non-compliance again will be given a letter that will inform the parents of the process regarding the violation of the standardized dress code policy. Refusal by the student to change will place them in in-school suspension for the remainder of the day. Repeated offenses will result in in-school suspension or out-of-school suspension at the discretion of the building principal.
