West Allis Allegro Junior Elite, Junior Prep and Varsity Dance Teams AUDITIONS

The West Allis Allegro Dance Program, which operates under the auspices of the West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation Department, will be conducting auditions for the 2010-2011 Allegro Junior Elite, Junior Prep and Varsity All*Star Dance Teams during the week of April 12th . Team membership IS NOT limited to West Allis-West Milwaukee School District students or residents. If you live in the Milwaukee Metropolitan area, you are welcome and encouraged to try out! These teams compete throughout the year at local, state, and national dance competitions doing team pom, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and kick routines along with solos and ensembles. They perform and serve at various school district and community events throughout the year.

NEW THIS YEAR!! There will be a Junior Elite Team AND a Junior Prep Team! This will enable many more dancers to have an opportunity to be on a dance team, which will prepare them for future varsity-level team tryouts. The Junior Elite Team will be for more experienced dancers, and the Junior Prep Team will be for less experienced dancers with the intent to prepare them for more intense competition. Both teams will NOT have a minimum age requirement… all can qualify based upon ability level. The guidelines for both teams will be: Junior Elite: No older than 14 years old/9^th grade in next school year, Junior Prep: No older than 13 years old/8^th grade in next school year.
The Varsity and Junior Elite Teams will attend a four-day UDA dance camp in July where emphasis is placed on jazz, funk/hip hop, pom, kick and lyrical. The Junior Prep Team will NOT attend this camp. Girls who are involved in extracurricular activities/ sports/studio dance are welcome, and allowances will be made for these activities. Middle school girls may also participate on their middle school squads as long as those squads are basically noncompetitive. Studio dancers are encouraged to participate - we will work with timing conflicts if they arise. MONDAY, APRIL 12th 6:00-7:00 p.m. – Parents pre-audition informational meeting at Wright Middle School, 9501 W. Cleveland Ave., West Allis, in the CAFETERIA **Parent or guardian should attend the meeting, email me for forms, or send someone to the meeting to pick up forms which must be signed and turned in prior to trying out.**

TUESDAY, APRIL 13th 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Jr. Elite &Jr. Prep Teams Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Varsity Team Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym (enter EAST DOORS to gym/upper gym – look for signs)

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14th 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Junior Teams Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Varsity Team Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym

THURSDAY, APRIL 15^th 5:30-7:00 p.m. – Junior Elite and Junior Prep Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym 7:00-9:00 p.m. – Varsity Team Audition Practice, Wright Gym/Upper Gym

SATURDAY, APRIL 17^th 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. – JUNIOR & VARSITY TEAMS AUDITIONS – Wright Upper Gym

The teams operate under the direction of Judy Johnson, Head Coach. Team coaches are: Sarah Davis – Varsity coach, Christina Hofmann – Jr. Elite coach, Colleen Floryance – Jr. Prep coach. Please attend the Parents’ Informational Meeting where all questions about time commitment, competitions, and cost will be answered.
