country’s power mix, lessen dependence on natural gas consumption 
for local electricity generation, and increase otherwise foregone 
export revenues.

Continue active participation in regional energy trade. 
This will help 
meet demand for power during peak periods more efficiently and will 
open opportunity for earning foreign revenue from the transit and sale 
of electricity. Uzbekistan has been an active participant in the CAREC 
process, and the country’s abundant energy resources offer an opportunity 
to earn substantial foreign exchange from power exports. Uzbekistan will 
also benefit from the exchange of knowledge among participating countries 
and from access to international experts to enhance institutional capacity 
in the power sector.

Create a favorable business environment for small-scale renewable 
energy application,
especially in the residential and commercial 
sectors.
Attract transnational companies to offer small-scale residential 
renewable energy solutions, such as solar PV systems. Establish 
compensation mechanisms (such as feed-in tariffs, net metering, and 
green certificate trades) for renewable energy sources. Direct a large part 
of international financial institution loans to sustainable and green energy

solutions. Create credit lines with international financial institutions to 
support small businesses engaged in the application and servicing of 
renewable energy technologies.
