The speech titled ''Can we solve global warming? Lessons from how we protected the ozone layer’’ by Sean Davis (2019) discusses the essence of ozone layer for humanity and suggests ways to tackle the issue of global warming.

In his speech, Davis (2019) states that ozone layer is significantly important for the human being due to the fact that it is earth’s sunscreen and fragile. What the author means is that ozone layer filters out more than 90 percent of harmful UV radiation which comes from the sun. However, he believes that the remaining 10 percent leads to cataracts, damage to crops and immune systems. During his speech, Davis (2019) also mentions the Montreal Protocol designed for the protection of ozone layer by phasing out the production of a number of substances that breeds ozone layer depletion.

The author also advocates that both individuals and the government authorities play a crucial role to copy with global warming. This is mainly because individuals and government should raise an environmental awareness.
