LIEUTENANT COLONEL MATTHEW R. BEER
Lieutenant Colonel Beer is the Commander, Air Force ROTC Detachment 001, at the University of Alaska in Anchorage, Alaska. He is responsible for recruiting, training, and educating Air Force officer candidates and is the Chairman of the Department of Aerospace Studies.
Colonel Beer entered the Air Force in 1996 as a graduate of Washington State University. He recently served as Commander of the 714th Training Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas, where he lead 1350 C-130 formal training students and oversaw Air Education and Training Command’s $1.1 billion C-130 aircrew training contracts. Colonel Beer has experience in a variety of flying and higher headquarters assignments and is a graduate of Air Education and Training Command’s TORCH LIGHT leadership development program. He also served in support of Operations JOINT GUARD, JOINT FORGE, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
Colonel Beer is a master navigator with more than 2,600 flying hours in C-130E/H aircraft.
