6) Not for profit
When I worked for Indian power plant site in 1999, I realized that various 
people in various regions practiced their own traditional ways to live without 
following the path of Western unilateral modernization. It was not easy, but I thought 
it deserved to do it.
New Delhi was the capital city where more than 20% lived in the streets 
homeless in 1999. Kolkata (also known as Calcutta until 2001) was more serious. I 
had opportunity to think how to find better life without following the western way 
endless desire for profit. I found the importance of life and work not for profit, but for 
solidarity and harmony.
7) Problem-solving 
I was assigned to Kuwait port project site to solve the problem in 2001. The 
most important thing was to find the real fact and problem. I studied the business 
process of the relevant local government offices and the nature of the persons in

charge, and discussed what should be done to identify these matters.
As I joined late, it was important to share all the information not only from my 
internal team members, but from all the members at site with open discussion and 
questions because if I did not know the details, then, I could not discover the core of 
the problem. Once I realized the problem, I could find a way to solve it. The problem 
that could not be solved was the one not recognized as a problem. 
8) The fallacy of professionalism
The Hong Kong port site saw a lot of deficits and was bleeding without any 
chance to raising claims as was blocked by the owner’s trap in 2002. Experts 
finalized they could not do anything, as they tried and admitted finally they knew it 
was legally impossible to do something. 
I started from scratch, as I knew nothing and as I was not familiar with 
construction contracts and claims. I read books, studied, and interviewed all the 
personnel at site to collect the unthinkable thoughts. It was important to look at the 
situation with fresh eyes. I coordinated and maintained people with different 
backgrounds for this purpose, and eventually, proved the original design of 
misbehavior of the owner.
