CASE-BASED TEACHING METHOD 

In case-based teaching, students analyze case studies of historical or hypothetical situations that 

Involve  solving  problems  and/or  making  decisions.  Kardos&  Smith  (1997:  88)  defined  a  case  in  the 

context of education as ―

an account of an education activity, event or problem containing some of the 

background and complexities actually encountered by an educationist

.‖

A  case  is  a  complete  narrative  of  a  problematic  situation,  how  people  dealt  with  it,  and  what  the 

outcomes were. Students may be called on to study the case ahead of time and be prepared to discuss it 

in  class,  but  the  same  may  be  said  of  any  traditional  lecture-based  approach  that  incorporates 

questioning and answer.
