I would recommend that you load LINQ-based applications into a decompiler such as 

ildasm.exe

or

reflector.exe

. These sorts of tools can greatly strengthen your understanding of LINQ internals.

Without diving too deeply into the use of Enumerable.Where at this point, do note that in

Figure 14-3, the underlying type for each query expression is indeed unique, based on the format of

our LINQ query expression.
