Enabling C# Keyword Coloring

TextPad is not equipped to understand C# keywords or work with csc.exe out of the box. To do so,

you will need to register the *.cs file extension with the tool. Launch TextPad and perform the fol-

lowing tasks using the New Document Wizard:

1.

Select the Configure ➤ New Document Class menu option.

2.

Enter the name C# in the Document class name edit box.

3.

In the next step, enter *.cs in the Class members edit box.

4.

Finally, enable syntax highlighting, choose csharp.syn from the drop-down list box, and

close the wizard.

Note

Earlier versions of TextPad did not ship with the C# syntax file (

csharp.syn

); however, it could be down-

loaded from the TextPad website. In fact, syntax files for a variety of languages can be downloaded from the

TextPad website.

You can now tweak TextPad’s C# look and feel using the Document Classes node accessible

from the Configure ➤ Preferences menu option (see Figure 2-4).
