III. Main Activity 2 ( 30mins)


  • Ask students what type of writing was used in the video and as well in the text.

Tell about general ideas of descriptive writing. (Use the five senses technic) Brainstorm possible adjectives and adverbs to write a descriptive writing about schools. Encourage students to share as many words as they can think of. Write them on the board. Possible answers: Adjectives: marvelous, well-disciplined, very modern, local, old, effective, different, fun, organized and etc.
Adverbs: soon, today, before, late, daily, quickly, sometimes, slowly, sadly, there and etc.

  • Elicit descriptive writing about schools with the help of students write examples:

I study at school. My school is very big. I like my school. (simple version)
I study at one of the reputed schools in Tashkent. It is located in the right heart of Tashkent, in the district of Yunusabad. What I like about my school is the well-qualified teachers, the well-organized and interesting lessons, and of course my friends. (descriptive version)
Explain and show the difference between these two pieces of writing. Encourage them to write a descriptive writing about their school and its system.




Plenary &Assessment (10 mins)

Revise what you have done today and answer students’ question. Check students' understanding by asking questions such as when do we use modal verbs passive or how do we describe the things?
