Nowadays, the number of people tends to go abroad for their careers or education for long periods of time is increasing even though there are significant pros and as well as challenges to do this. The main advantage of living other countries is enriching their knowledge and skills while the drawback can be adaptability

Moving to foreign countries is beneficial when it comes to enhancing people’s knowledge and skills. What I mean by this is that when students or workers go to another country, he/she meets with new people, learn different aspects of different fields and improve their outlook by these. They also face some challenges which help to boost their problem solving skills. Making new friends and colleagues also makes them more sociable. For example, in 2016 Oxford made a case study about students and workers from other nations which showed that people who took gap years before studying or moved abroad to work or study enhanced their knowledge, problem solving skills and became more outgoing than those who did not.

Living abroad can be difficult with adapting new situations. When you move to foreign countries, culture shock, language barriers, food preferences make it hard to live there. Many people face isolation or homesickness as they are far away from their loved ones at least till they make new friends and colleagues. Some people may also face health issues because of the changes in climate and environment. For example, in 2019 Times made a survey which asked thousands of people who moved to other countries to find a job or study about the challenges they faced. Most of them said that they felt isolated, couldn’t adapt new circumstances for a few weeks or months and found it difficult to start their lives from a scratch.

To conclude, moving abroad for different purposes like working and studying can be helpful for increasing knowledge and skills when you can face up challenges like adapting new situations.
