Objectives: to practise reading for detail; to practise the verbs in reported

speech for true facts Ask PP to look at the line where the word 'model' is used and answer why 'have' is not 'had'. If PP cannot answer the question explain that at the reporting time (a week later after interview) the factory still has the models of the car. And the facts which are true all the time are often not changed to the past in the reported speech.

4. Post – activity Activity 3 Chain Drill.

Objective: to give freer pactise in using reported speech

This is a normal Chain drill. Pupil B must report as if the sentence was said some days ago.

Activity 4 Three days ago Sergei was interviewed. Here is what he said. Listen and report what Sergei said.

Objective: to give controlled practice in using reported speech teacher tells PP not to report the interviewer's question just Sergei's part. This activity is similar to 1 a and 1 b.
