For instance, the first all-male school in New York reported an 82% graduation rate for the same time period.
Although co-educational schools that allow for the interaction of both genders do have their benefits for some students, and may even provide a preferable learning environment in certain circumstances, it’s crucial to consider the benefits that single-gender schooling can offer. There is valid reasoning behind the fact that over a third of American parents feel that they should have the option to send their child to a single-sex school.
Practically, all parents want to choose the best education for their children. There has actually long been argument over whether single sex schools are better than co-education schools. I think, co-education schools permit higher interaction between genders which causes more social interaction. Student interaction in school is what prepares them for the real world. If I have a chance to choose schools single or co-educational schools, I will choose co-educational school. I think there are more benefits of mixed gender school in our developing era. For instance, students can show their strengths and weaknesses, they learn how to communicate with other people, other gender. When single gender students are out of school and in the workforce, they will have to learn how to work with the opposite gender. According to the speech of Diane Halpern, past president of the American Psychology Association, students involved in single gender schools have no advantages. I am opposed to the idea that the cognitive index of same-sex school students is higher than that of mixed- gender school students. It depends on students’ IQ how to learn the subjects. According to the article, in single gender schools, the teaching can adjust to include techniques and concepts proven to work best for pupils and their parents.
